European Population Conference 2006
This European Population Conference (EPC 2006) was organized by EAPS in collaboration with the Department of Geography at the University of Liverpool.
EPC 2006 convened In Liverpool (United Kingdom) from 23-26 June 2006. EPC 2006 was a general scientific conference on population issues relevant to Europe. Special attention was paid to the theme of population challenges of ageing societies. This theme was also addressed in the keynote by Emily Grundy (London School for Hygiene and Tropical Medicine) on “Ageing societies and care for older people”.
EPC 2006 was attended by around 500 participants. Next to the plenary session, 75 simultaneous and special sessions took place where over 300 papers were presented. In the poster session more than 100 posters were presented.
EPC 2006 was supported by grants from the European Union, the Economic and Social Research Council (UK), the Institut national d’études démographiques (INED, France), the Population Investigation Committee (UK), the Welcome Trust and the University of Liverpool.
